POLICY: VULNERABLE CHILD POLICY

Adopted November 28, 1988 by the Board of Trustees
Revised November 25, 1996
Revised January 21, 2003

The mission of the Sno-Isle Libraries is to be a community doorway to reading, resources and life long learning and to be a center for people, ideas and culture.

Children are welcome in our libraries. We are concerned about their safety and welfare.

We recognize parents' or guardians' responsibility for the behavior and well-being of their children. We respect the privacy of all library patrons and intervene only when a child is at risk.

The Vulnerable Child is an unattended child of any age who is deemed by the staff to be at risk.

If a Vulnerable Child comes to the attention of library staff, the parent or guardian will be notified. If the parent or guardian cannot be reached, the child will be referred to the local law enforcement agency.
