Thank you for your interest in adding your work to the Sno-Isle Libraries collection. Sno-Isle Libraries seeks materials that are written and/or published locally. We are especially interested in materials about Snohomish and Island Counties and western Washington. It is sometimes difficult for us to identify these materials so we appreciate an author or artist bringing them to our attention. We rarely add self-published materials to our collection because we cannot find reviews or verify the content of the work.
Selection of materials for the library is done by librarians in the Collection Development Department and this work is guided by our Collection Development Policy . As a public library, we select materials for general users, rather than specialists or practitioners. We collect materials for all ages.
In making a decision about adding material to our collection, we consider the following:
Subject of material, including special local interest
Professional review of the work (we rely on reviews for much of our selection)
Intended audience for the work
Author's qualifications, such as education, experience in the field, and experience as a writer or artist
Author's connection to the communities we serve
Publication information, including where and when published, price, and type of binding
Format of the work (for example, spiral bindings and workbooks are not suitable for circulation in a public library setting)
Appropriate use of copyrighted material included in the work
Ability to purchase the work through our wholesale vendors
It is recommended that local video production companies submit their work to Video Librarian magazine for possible review. Video Librarian reviews can bring your work to the attention of the library community as a whole and make addition to the library collection much more likely.
If you have a Web site that describes your work and includes information outlined above, please send us the URL.
You may submit a sample copy of your work at your community library or our Service Center. Due to the volume of material received, we are not able to return sample copies of works that are not solicited by our staff.
Thank you for your consideration of the Sno-Isle Libraries.
