The Library will:
- Receive tests for students, provide a certified librarian to set up the exam situation and sign the appropriate paperwork. However, it is the student's responsibility to contact the library to verify receipt of the test. All tests should be sent through the mail to Certified Librarian so that the student is not bound by an individual librarian's schedule for test proctoring. Examinations should be sent to the library in a sealed envelope.
- Accept the receipt of examinations via email. Students will be provided with the branch email address after contacting the branch to arrange proctoring.
- Make student aware of any specific institutional guidelines (no notes, no open books, calculator or computer permitted).
- Send the completed examination back to the institution through the US Postal Service, but postage must be prepaid by the institution or by the student.
The Library cannot:
- Provide a locked or secure place for the test.
- Provide a quiet study room for test taking.
- Provide a librarian to monitor the test taking, one-on-one.
- Provide proctoring for large groups of students.
- Provide extended computer time on an internet computer. Internet computers are scheduled at each branch, with a limit of 2 hours per day. However, the individual computers have time limits and few branches allow 2 hours in a single time increment. The librarian cannot override this time limit.
- Mail the completed exam at times other than the regular library mailing.
- Arrange for courier or delivery pickup of completed exams. Nor can the library fax completed exams.
The student will:
- Call the library to verify receipt of the examination.
- Allow sufficient time to take the examination before the deadline that has been established by the institution or association. The library will hold tests for sixty days or the test's stated deadline. If the student does not pick up the test by that time, the test will be returned to the institution or association.
- Come prepared with the necessary or required supplies to take the examination.
- Provide postage in the event that the institution has not enclosed a return, postpaid envelope.
- Allow sufficient return time for the normal library mailing.
