Librarians as Information Guides
In the Fall of 2011, Sno-Isle Libraries initiated an exciting new program, Librarians as Information Guides: Piloting Adults to Information and Services. This groundbreaking project is funded by grants from The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation.
Nine librarians were hand-selected to receive customized education for adult learning and teaching. Trained as information guides, these highly-skilled librarians offer community classes, reference services, and individual tutoring to encourage and guide adults to information and services.
These free, in-depth classes have become extremely popular among adult customers. For example, more than 200 adults have attended the nine eBook downloading classes since they began last fall. Other classes include topics such as genealogy, smart investing, navigating online health information, science, travel, and more.
Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation is a public, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization registered with
the United States Internal Revenue Service and the Washington State Secretary of State.
