Nobody But Us Teen Book Nobody But Us

2 stars.

Describe the book: Will and Zoe are two teenagers infatuated with one another; Zoe lives with her abusive father and Will lives in a group home nearby, along with trying to manage his own rage issues. They both decide to run away to Vegas, away from their North Dakota home, for their love and for their freedom.

What did you think: I liked it for the most part, but I don't feel like the characters were very believable, despite being a realistic fiction book. Will's whole "I ain't never gonna hurt Zoe" display got old real fast, and with that + Zoe's "I'll make his life better" speeches I feel like everything wave very repetitive throughout the book, but overall it was alright

Who would you recommend it to: gr7+, abuse, group home, road trip, relationships

Love & Leftovers Teen Book Love & Leftovers

2 stars.

Describe the book: Marcie moves with her mother to a New Hampshire beach house and assumed that the move was a temporary "vacation", once Marcie's father wants to separate to be with another man. Marcie had to leave her boyfriend and friends (the "leftovers") behind, and new people in her life like J.D. give her temptations, and she risks her relationships.

What did you think: This book is written in free verse poem, so it was a very short couple-hour read. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out all that much at the same time, so my feelings are pretty neutral. It gave me something to read. You can definitely feel for Marcie and her emotional (and physical) frustrations.

Who would you recommend it to: gr7+, long distance relationships, divorce

A World Away Teen Book A World Away

4 stars.

Describe the book: Sixteen year old Eliza, who lives in an Amish community, wants to go live in the outside world for a temporary period of time for her rumspringa, a passage in life for Amish teenagers. She ends up getting a babysitting job and living with a family in Chicago. She faces hard life choices and family secrets about the life she wants for herself.

What did you think: I was never bored any time at all during this book, and even I felt frustrated trying to think of what would be best for Eliza; living in her new world, or returning to home. There is no in-between option for her. Either way, she'd have to leave old friends or new friends. It's hard to put down, and definitely funny when she's new to everything!

Who would you recommend it to: gr7+, Amish culture, family, friendships

4 stars.

Describe the book: Nora Grey leads a normal life until Path Cipricano comes into her life. Nora is stuck at a cross roads on deciding if she likes him or not. while Patch battles his own demons within himself about Nora.

What did you think: I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I couldn't put the book down, it kept me turning page for page laughing and feeling the emotions along with the characters. my favorite part was towards the end when Nora's best friend Vee Sky and two boys break into school to have a massive hide and go seek game.

Who would you recommend it to: fantasy lovers, and books about angels.

The Peculiars Teen Book The Peculiars

3 stars.

Describe the book: With the arrival of a letter- and an inheritance- from her estranged father, 18-year-old Lena Mattacascar sets out on a life-changing journey to discover the truth about her own identity: are she and her father goblins- Peculiars- like her grandmother claims, or does her adventurous spirit come from elsewhere?

What did you think: Peculiars is one of those clever steampunk books that slips in all of the fantastic elements of the steam culture without going over the top. Lena herself wasn't the best character out there, but the other cast and McQuerry's fantastic writing style make it an addictive and enjoyable book throughout.

Who would you recommend it to: Steampunk/fantasy lovers

Glimpse Teen Book Glimpse

3 stars.

Describe the book: Hope's sister and best friend Liz is taken to a hospital after Hope catches her right before she commits suicide. Their mother, a sex worker, acts really strange and suspicious after Liz is taken away, and Hope spends all her time trying to think about what made Liz almost kill herself. This book is written in free-verse poem.

What did you think: I wasn't aware of how thriller/creepy this book was going to be by its descriptions, thus a couple parts were horrifying, but it'd be dumb to say that it was a bad book due to my getting scared easy, because I read the book all in one sitting because it was that captivating! A great mystery/thriller novel. Trigger warning for suicide + sexual abuse

Who would you recommend it to: gr8+, depression, family, sister-relationships

4 stars.

Describe the book: Rebecca is getting ready to go to college to be an architect when her and her family move across the country to New Jersey, but just a few days later her father says he's leaving them all for another woman. Rebecca's world and family are turned upside down. She doubts her long distance relationship with Jackson and learns new things about her mom.

What did you think: I kept getting really angry at Rebecca's father and I think that whenever I took a break from reading my emotions were still affected because it was written well. There's also a lot going on in this book that I didn't have room to mention above, such as Reb finally giving in and listening to her "inner voice", and helped get her to where she wanted

Who would you recommend it to: gr7+, divorce, college, relationships, architects

Describe the book: Cheyenne was sitting in her car when someone desides to steel the car. Little did the theif know there was a person that was blind. She gets taken to his house and the stealers dad desides to hold her for random. Can she escape all the theifs while being blind?

What did you think: It was a page flipping book. My favorite part was when they were in the car and the thief tries to trick her acting like is cigar lighter was a gun.

Who would you recommend it to: kidnapping books

The Night Circus book The Night Circus

4 stars.

Describe the book: A pair of competing magicians...a circus clothed in black-and-white..and a deadly secret brewing underneath the surface of it all. The circus arrives without warning, and so does the unexpected love that blooms between Celia and Marco, two illusionists forced into a competition in which only one of them will win...and only one of them will survive

What did you think: Fantastic! The Night Circus took me on a wild, topsy-turny ride through the circus tents and lives of everyone involved. I thoroughly enjoyed Erin Morgenstern's beautiful style and inventive characters. It really felt like the book came to life while I was reading it, and it kept me up for hours thinking about it after I was finished!

Who would you recommend it to: Fantasy lovers

3 stars.

Describe the book: Gaia Stone is a birthmother in a world where babies are given to the Enclave as part of a monthly quota, living on the outside of the wall. Scarred when she was young, Gaia has been forced to live her entire life in Wharfton...that is, until her parents are arrested and she heads inside to save them..and uncover the dark secrets of the city inside.

What did you think: At first, I wasn't sure what to think about Birthmarked, but the more I read, the more I got into it. I can't exactly point out what makes this book so addicting, but I am fully engrossed in this series and can't wait until I get my hands on the third one!

Who would you recommend it to: Dystopian lovers
