Issues That Matter
Sno-Isle Libraries' Issues That Matter series of programs began in the fall of 2010 in an effort to encourage important community conversations on high-profile, current event topics. These events were free and open to the public. Funding is provided by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation, which joins Sno-Isle Libraries in remaining neutral on topics covered by Issues that Matter programs.
The September 2010 series of forums addressed the effects of bullying on the lives of so many. Students, families, educators, employers and anyone interested in this topic were invited to come and hear local law enforcement, education professionals, mental health specialists, and other experts examine and discuss ways to address this damaging issue. Attendees had the opportunity to submit questions at three discussion forums.
The discussion forums were:
Thursday, September 12, 7-8:30 p.m. Lake Stevens High School Performing Arts Center
Thursday, September 19, 7-8:30 p.m. Henry M. Jackson High School Annex, Mill Creek
Thursday, September 26, 7-8:30 p.m. Coupeville High School Performing Arts Center
The third topic in the "Public Safety and Health" series of Issues that Matter forums later in 2010 and explored the topic of DUI and addictions.
