TEDxSnoIsleLibraries speaker Marty Folsom joined us for a live conversation and Q&A. As an author, academic, and counselor, Marty's tips could help you get closer to those you love.
How do we get closer to those we love? This talk addresses this question of the heart and of our lives, sharing simple practices that will bring you closer to the people you care about most. People too often love from a distance or through clouds of confusion or from behind a mask, feeling at times poorly known and not well understood by even those they love most. We can change that, and learn to better understand and love, opening the doors to also become better understood and available to receive the love that others have for us.
As an author, Marty Folsom has written a trio of books exploring the nature of personal relationships. As an academic, Marty earned a Ph.D. and taught in New Zealand and the Seattle area for 20 years. As a counselor, the Woodinville, Wash., native refers to himself as a Relational Theologian, affirming that God exists in relationships and all that God does is for the purpose of relationships. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
