Tracing family history connects us with ancestors and family experiences and provides a greater understanding of who we are. Sno-Isle Libraries has resources to help you begin your family history discoveries.
Here are some helpful tips before you begin:
- If you are researching your family, start with yourself and work backward.
- Save your documents and record where you found them.
- Save time by gathering facts and documents already known from your immediate and extended family.
Ancestry Library Edition
Ancestry.com is a familiar name in genealogy research. Ancestry Library Edition is their database offered to public libraries.
Ancestry Library Edition is free to use at any Sno-Isle community library or by connecting to the library wifi. It is not available to use from home, but it includes many of the same functions and documents as a paid subscription to Ancestry.com. So it is worth a visit to your library!
Use Ancestry Library Edition to:
- Do a general name search to see all the record sets associated with that name.
- Search for a name in a specific record set, like immigration records or marriage records.
- View all the available years of the United States Census.
- Print free family chart templates to help organize your work.
