The new Lake Stevens Library is shaping up in the Chapel Hill neighborhood! With framing in full swing and walls going up, every nail and beam is a step towards your next favorite place to explore, learn, and grow.
Here’s a quick look at our progress:
- Road regrading and repaving are complete, and the parking lot’s first asphalt layer is in place.
- Shear walls (reinforced concrete walls that provide structural support) are well under way, giving the building its first vertical form.
- Grading and shaping the land for construction and utility installation are nearly complete.
- Structural steel and timber elements are being prepped offsite.
- Coming Soon: Slab pour and site improvements, including landscaping and wetland buffer.
Construction of the two-story, 15,000-square-foot building is on track for completion in spring 2026. The designs for the new library building were inspired by community input with a focus on early learning and sustainability. Features will include an interactive children’s area, flexible public meeting rooms, study rooms, and usable outdoor space for community gathering and cozy reading.
