Filing Your Taxes
Tax season begins in January for the previous year. Everyone will use Form 1040 to file their taxes. Taxpayers age 65 or older have the option of using Form 1040-SR.
Forms and Publications
- Print most forms and publications from IRS.gov. You may print these forms using the library's printing services.
- Order print tax forms directly from the IRS. This is especially helpful for non-reproducible forms that cannot be printed from the website, such as W2s.
AARP Tax Aide Appointments
Free tax return preparation will be offered by AARP Tax-Aide volunteers this tax season. The service is a joint venture with the IRS to promote filing returns electronically and all returns that are able to be e-filed will be e-filed. This service is available to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those ages 60 and over. AARP membership is not required.
Appointments, although not required, are recommended and will receive preference over walk-ins. No walk-ins will be accepted during the last hour of operation.

ITIN Application Assistance
PIM Savvy is one of only two VITA sites in Washington state offering free assistance with Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) applications. As IRS-authorized Certifying Acceptance Agents (CAAs), we prepare your tax return and ITIN application at the same time.
This service is especially valuable because Washington state's Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) allows applications with ITINs, even though the federal Earned Income Tax Credit does not.
Registration is required. By appointment only. Online appointments are also available.
Language Line assistance is available for many languages.
