Working at Sno-Isle Libraries

What is it like to work at Sno-Isle Libraries?

It's warm, friendly and full of energy. A place where you can really get to know the people you work with and the communities you serve. A place where your growth is supported and encouraged. And where every member of the team understands just how important their role is to our success.

At Sno-Isle Libraries, our mission is to be a community doorway to reading, resources and lifelong learning, and a center for people, ideas and culture. That's why you'll find the atmosphere so open and inviting.

Bring your passion for learning

Our libraries are known for both the progressive approach we take to our work and for our responsiveness to the needs of our communities. We're continually adopting new technologies and providing new services. That means you'll have the chance to grow and learn with us as technology and our services evolve. Plus, we'll support you with ongoing opportunities for professional development and training.

From day one, you'll have the opportunity to take part in internal and external learning events. Our New Hire Orientation Program will get you off to a solid start. From there, you can take advantage of a number of programs that will take your skills further, such as leadership training, technical instruction, teleconferences, webinars and association conferences. Regardless of your experience or skill level, you'll find opportunities for career growth within Sno-Isle Libraries.

Hello, I'm Karin.

Ask me about:

"I prepare the library for opening -- balancing cash transmittals, unlocking doors, turning off alarms, logging on computers, making sure our schedule is covered for the day. I'm in charge of 13 employees. I meet with each employee at least once a month to discuss any concerns or questions they have about their jobs. I also do hiring and performance reviews."

"When I first started at Sno-Isle, I had small children at home and only wanted to work part time. Sno-Isle was very attractive to me, especially because employees working at least 20 hours/week are eligible for benefits. To me, that's amazing! And the benefits are great, especially the vacation and sick-leave. "

"I've encouraged several people to apply, and I tell them all the same thing: 'Sno-Isle is a great place to work. They take care of their people. The benefits are great. The training is phenomenal. And the day goes by so quickly because there is so much multitasking and variety. You're never bored.'"

"One of the things that makes Sno-Isle stand out, is that the employees have great work ethic. They come to work happy. I think you need that attitude to fit in here. And you must be customer service orientated and able to work with diverse customers of all ages. It helps to be a good multitasker, too."

"I am currently reading The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones. This is the first book selection for the new "Foodies Book Club" at the Mountlake Terrace Library. While I have just begun reading the book I am already hooked by the feast of gastronomical descriptions of Chinese cuisine in the book."

There was one place where I could find out who I was and what I was going to become.
And that was the public library.
