Candid search (formerly Foundation Directory and GuideStar) combines decades of data into a one-stop, comprehensive nonprofit search tool. Candid provides data on over 1.9 million nonprofits and 304,000 grantmakers so you can easily research funders for your nonprofit.
How to access Candid
Candid search is available for in-library use at the Freeland and Marysville Libraries.
How to find funding and grants using Candid
- Start your search with a broad phrase, such as your field of work. If you know the funder you’re looking for, search their name.
- Select the “Grantmakers” tab and use other filters, such as subject area and organization type, to narrow your results.
- Explore funders’ profiles to review their past giving and determine if they’re a good fit. Find key contact information once you’re ready to reach out.
How to look up nonprofits using Candid
- Start your search with a simple phrase, such as “food banks in [your area].” If you know the organization you’re looking for, search their name or EIN.
- Narrow your results using filters, such as location or population served.
- Select a nonprofit and explore their profile for key information on their mission, programs, financials, employees, and more.
