Lakewood Community Reads

Join your neighbors, Lakewood School District (LWSD), and the Lakewood/Smokey Point Library this summer in reading "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt, opens a new window. This book was chosen by the Lakewood School District to bring the whole community together for a discussion around screens and how youth use them. 

The Anxious Generation

Copies of the book can be placed on hold and picked up at the Lakewood/Smokey Point Library, opens a new window or the Lakewood Lockers, opens a new window. There are a limited number of copies to be given away on a first-come, first-served basis at the library.  

Lakewood Community Reads Events

  • Lakewood/ Smokey Point Summer Reading Kick-off, opens a new window - June 27, 2:00-4:00pm at the Smokey Point Community Park
    Kick off summer with activities for all ages, including a huge 47-foot inflatable obstacle course, classic field games, crafts, and a special surprise guest!  Bring your friends and family to this special event.
  • The Anxious Generation Book Discussion (in-person) - July 30th, 5:30-6:30pm at the Lakewood/Smokey Point Library 
  • The Anxious Generation Book Discussion (virtual) - August 10th,12-1:00pm
