Filing Your Taxes
Tax season begins in January for the previous year. Everyone will use Form 1040 to file their taxes. Taxpayers age 65 or older have the option of using Form 1040-SR.
Due to severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides, and mudslides in the State of Washington that began December 9, 2025, the IRS has postponed certain tax-filing and tax-payment deadlines for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the disaster area until May 1, 2026. Learn more.
Forms and Publications
- Print most forms and publications from IRS.gov. You may print these forms using the library's printing services.
- Order print tax forms directly from the IRS. This is especially helpful for non-reproducible forms that cannot be printed from the website, such as W2s.
Other Filing Options
- IRS Free File guided tax preparation is available to individuals whose adjusted gross income is $84,000 or less.
- MyFreeTaxes.com allows individuals filing a simple return to file their federal and state taxes online for free.
