Who We Are
Friends of the Edmonds Library's goals are to support and enhance the Edmonds Library; promote literacy, reading, and use of information resources; and advance education in library and information science. The Edmonds Friends group was organized and incorporated in March 1979 by 15 founding members. Today we have over 180 members.

What We Do
We are a not-for-profit tax exempt volunteer organization and we raise money through our Memorial and Gift Fund, an on-going book sale in the Library and our huge annual book sale usually held the fourth Saturday in October. We have raised over $456,000 for our programs.
- Summer reading support
- Programs for teens and children
- Equipment and training for staff
- New furniture such as shelving
- "Best Book I ever Read" poster contest
- Aquarium and indoor plantings
- Outdoor signs
This is the 24th year the Friends of the Edmonds Library has presented a scholarship to a graduate student attending the University of Washington Library Science program. Selected students have completed 20 credits in the Master of Library and Information Science, and have been approved for financial aid as determined by UW Financial Aid Office. The Edmonds Friends group was the first of the Friends groups in Washington state to create such an innovative scholarship.

When We Meet
Open general meetings are normally held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Plaza Room above the Library.
Each month we start with a coffee get-together. Before the business meeting there is a program featuring speakers discussing topics of interest. Visitors are always welcome. There are no meetings in July, August and December. The June meeting is our annual luncheon to honor our hard-working membership, and we also introduce our scholarship winner at that time.
How To Join
Membership brochures are available in the Library. Annual membership dues are:
- Single - $10.00
