Lake Stevens and Brier libraries announce new hours

Originally published May. 20, 2014

To better meet the needs of library customers, the Lake Stevens Library and the Brier Library will have new open hours in June.

The Lake Stevens Library will open one hour earlier Monday through Saturday and will now be open on Sundays. Hours effective June 1 will be:

  • Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.

“It feels great to better serve the community with expanded hours,” said Miriam Driss, managing librarian of the Lake Stevens Library. “We know there are people who have a difficult time getting to the Lake Stevens Library because of their busy schedules. More hours will make visiting the library easier, and more of our residents will have access to library services. That is a very good thing.”

The Brier Library will be closed Sunday and Monday rather than Sunday and Thursday. The Brier Library’s hours effective June 2 will be:

  • Tuesday through Thursday noon to 8 p.m.
  • Friday noon to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday and Monday closed

“Since we started publicizing our new hours, we’ve already received positive feedback from the community,” said Sandra Barnhart, temporary manager of the Brier Library. “Some customers have stated that with the library being open continuous days within the week, it will be easier to remember our hours.”

The changes in open hours are based on public feedback and recent patterns of library use. The new hours were developed with the goal of improving service to the community and their diverse needs.
