How does this service work?
To begin using this service, you will need to complete the application form. It may take 2-3 business days for your application to be reviewed. If you are approved for this service, you will receive an email confirmation. After the application is approved, you can begin placing holds to be sent to "Library on Wheels." When we have received your items, we will mail them to you. When you are done, you mail them back.
Who qualifies for this service?
This service is intended as a temporary service for those who are unable to participate in contact-free services at a physical library location due to COVID-19. To be eligible for this service, customers must also live within the Sno-Isle Libraries District (Snohomish and Island Counties, excluding the cities of Everett and Woodway).
To apply for this service please fill out the application form. You will receive an email to confirm that you have been approved for this service.
How long will it take to receive my items?
Items you have placed on hold will be sent to our Books By Mail team at the Library on Wheels. When we have received all of your items or enough to fill a mailing envelope, the items will be checked out to your account and shipped. From that point, it can take up to two weeks for them to arrive in the mail. This time frame is taken into account when we set the due dates for your items.
How do I order through Books By Mail:
After you have been approved for this service, you can begin placing holds as normal by selecting "Library on Wheels" as your pickup location. For instructions visit here. If you need assistance placing holds, you can contact a local library. Just remind them that you would like your holds sent to "Library On Wheels."
How do I return items through the mail?
Postage for this service is prepaid. The package you receive will include instructions on how to mail the items back to us. Generally speaking:
- Use the envelope provided to mail materials back and ensure it is labeled correctly.
- Double check your receipt to ensure you are sending exactly the materials we sent to you.
- Seal the envelope and place in your mailbox or contact your local post office to discuss pick up options.
Can I renew items?
We know that shipping delays or other things can prevent you from having the time you'd like to finish materials. All Sno-Isle Library items are automatically renewed if no one is waiting to borrow the item after you. You can see the due dates on your account by logging in at sno-isle.org or contact a library near you to ask about due dates and renewals.
Can I mail extra items back?
Please only mail back the exact items that were originally mailed to you. A receipt is provided to help you identify the correct materials. The prepaid postage rate is determined by weight and it may cause additional shipping problems or fees if extra or different items are mailed back.
What can I receive through the mail?
The number of items we are able to send in the mail is determined by size and weight of the items. We are able to send most library materials through the mail. This includes books, DVDs, and audiobooks. However, we are unable to send coffee table books, most cookbooks, atlases, and other large or heavy items.
How many items will you mail to me?
We will be able to mail up to 5 items depending on the weight and size of the items. It may not be possible to fit all of your holds in one package. If that is the case, you will receive a package with the materials we could fit. The rest of the materials will be mailed upon the return of previously sent library materials.
