New Year, New Library

Sending 2023 out with a book at the renovated Edmonds Library.

The Edmonds Library’s Grand Re-Opening is a story still unfolding. This complex restoration project has an aggressive construction schedule, and like all good stories, there were unexpected plot twists. We are anticipating welcoming our community back into the library just in time to celebrate the New Year with our newly renovated and modernized library.

Along with our community, we want to open the library as soon as possible. Like any construction project, there were circumstances outside of our control, and our contractors were able to provide additional clarity on the scope and needs for our renovation. This includes things like changes to wiring, the double gluing of carpet, supply chain delays, and additional duct work.

In partnership with the City of Edmonds, Sno-Isle Libraries is using this unfortunate flooding event to invest $2.5M to modernize and create a special library space for our Edmonds community and staff.

Our Edmonds community will be able to come together in a new meeting space and use a quiet room for telehealth calls or job interviews. This space will be reservable for our community to use and provide opportunities for fun, engaging programming in our community. Children will be able to enjoy an enhanced and interactive learning and reading area to support their early literacy and imaginative play. The building will also have improved energy efficiency, better sightlines of our amazing view, and increased accessibility for shelving and outlets.

We appreciate the City of Edmonds ongoing partnership as we create a space for the community to learn, gather, and connect. Our Edmonds Library staff have worked hard to serve you since the flooding incident. They will continue to provide temporary library services for you throughout construction in the City’s Plaza Room.

The Edmonds Library is the cornerstone of our thriving community. We look forward to finishing this chapter to start our next saga!
