ONLY YOU can read with Smokey Bear!

What does Smokey Bear do when he isn’t preventing forest fires? He reads, of course! Combine your love for nature with your love of reading and enroll at your library or online in the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge today.

Created in 1944 by the U.S. Forest Service as a spokesbear and symbol of wildfire prevention, Smokey has been educating families for 80 years! Help Smokey celebrate his birthday by learning how you can help prevent fires and protect the environment.

Begin Your Journey
Visit your local library this April for fun activities, coloring sheets, and a reading log. After reading three (or more) books about nature, wildfires, or caring for the environment, turn in your Smokey Bear Pledge/reading log at your library to get a certificate!
