Sunny summer is in full swing! Celebrate by taking dining outdoors. Whether it's a concert, a low-key hike, a picnic in the park, or any other excuse for eating outside, private chef Melody Alferez has tips for you. Join us to observe or cook along with Melody as she demonstrates recipes and teaches techniques for a memorable outdoor dining experience. How Location Sketching Builds Connection to Place with Eleanor Doughty

Sketching on location documents your surroundings, changes your relationship to that place, and leaves you with a drawing immortalizing that experience. Eleanor Doughty, opens a new window is an illustrator originally from the D.C. area, now based in Seattle in the Pacific Northwest. She has worked as a full-time freelance artist & educator since 2017, finding her niche in location illustration and large-scale works. Eleanor is a guest artist at this year's Sketcher Fest, opens a new window in Edmonds, Washington. She shares her journey working as a sketchbook artist specializing in this analogue art form.

Cargos Around the World with Mystic Seaport Museum

Learn about world geography through transportation of goods and people on water. Cargo transport will be examined throughout history, including types of cargo, ships, and insight into life aboard the transport vessels. Mystic Seaport Museum, opens a new window is the nation’s leading maritime museum. Founded in 1929 to gather and preserve the rapidly disappearing artifacts of America’s seafaring past, the Museum has grown to become a national center for research and education with the mission to “inspire an enduring connection to the American maritime experience.”
